Violet House wins overall title

Winners receiving the shield at the annual sports meet of Periyar Centenary Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Jayankondam.

Violet House won the overall championship at the first annual sports meet of Periyar Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Jayankondam, in Perambalur district. Red House won the championship in team games. Maroon House and Blue House were adjudged the best in the marchpast and drill respectively.

Additional District Judge, Fast Track Court, Ariyalur, R. Paranjothi, who was the chief guest and the Inspector of Matriculation Schools B. Panneer Selvam, gave away the prizes. Principal in-charge P. Vasuki and Principal, Periyar Centenary Memorial Matriculation HSS, Tiruchi, R. Ramanidevi spoke. A. Vigneshwaran and R. Ilavarasi (class XI), R. Ashok Raja and P. Backia Lakshmi (IX), S. Manikandan and R. Karthika (VI) excelled in various events. The students also performed parai attam, kolattam and ouil attam.
